4.1 Double Standards

double standards- दुटप्पी धोरण

wake up - जागे व्हा. 

When I wake up late - मी जेव्हा उशिरा उठते .

I'm getting very lazy- मी खूप आळाशी बनत आहे 

alarm  - गजर 

 crazy- बिघडलेला 

I say 'No' - मी नाही म्हणते ./ म्हणतो 

to something- कशाला तरी 

being - बनत आहे 

stubborn- हट्टी

firm- ठाम , खंबीर

raise- उंचावणे / वाढवणे 

voice- आवाज

I raise my voice- मी माझा आवाज वाढवतो

shocking  - धक्कादायक 

rude -उद्धट

to be good- चांगले बनायला 

I break something- मी काहीतरी फोडते/ मोडते

clumsy - वेंधळा

careless- निष्काळजी

slipped - घसरलेला

helpless- असहाय्य 

I do something wrong- मी  काहीतरी चुकीचे करते......

terror - दहशत , धास्ती, धमकी. 

error - चूक, त्रुटी. 

forgivable error-  दुर्लक्षित करण्याजोगी  चूक

quarreI - भांडण 

naughty- खोडकर , खट्याळ

duty- कर्तव्य

grown up  - मोठी माणसं

spoil -बिघडवणे , नासवणे

delight- joy( आनंद)

child's delight - मुलांचा आनंद..

Stubborn : A stubborn person does not cange the way he acts or thinks though may not be nice

firm: A firm person takes a good decision and does not change it. 

clumsy : without skill or neatness

terror-  Here, it means a person gives great trouble.

forgivable : If something is forgivable  it is not serious and one can stop angry about it.

Q. Use any one situation in the poem and write two short speeches using words and ideas from the poem.

(a) a speech in which the grown-up scolds the child 

(b) a speech in which the grown-up explains why his/her own actions are right.

For example, Situation : Raising one's voice.

 (a ) Grown-up : Don't shout. It's rude to shout. How dare you raise your voice.  It's shocking

(b) Grown-up: I have told you again and again, You don't listen to me. I don't  like to shout, but you make me shout at you.
