 SMS Language



SMS means Short Massage Service. It is used in verbal language. Some times nambers are used to text massage.


(1) To find out the meaning of the message, read the message carefully. 

(2) Try to find out the meaning of given number or letters stand for.

(3) Mostly small letters are used for SMS language.


e.g. Cu-means See You.

Observe the words and  their Short-forms used in SMS:

Solved Examples:- 

Ex. 1: My uncle told me, 'I have sent a story book 4U.

Find out long form of under lined part of SMS

(1) before

(2) four Your

(3) for you

(4) for your  

Sol.: 'For you' is the correct long form of 4U, So Ans is option 3


Ex. 2: What message will you send, if you want to say "O", My God!"

(1) OK

(2) GOM

(3) OIG

(4) OMG

Sol.: First three options are incorrect. The short form of above stock expression is 'OMG'. So Ans is potions 4


Ex. 3: If you want to sent the message 'I don't know', what SMS will you send?

(1) IDN

(2) IDK

(3) IDNK

(4) IDND

Sol.: 'IDK' is the correct short form of 'I don't know' So Ans is option 2.


Ex. 4: Your friend sent you a message ' U  R my 'BFF'.

Find out the long form of underlined part of SMS

(1) Best for friend

(2) Best friend forever

(3) Beautiful Friend ferever

(4) You are my best friend forever

Sol.: BFF mean 'Best Friend Forever' So Ans is option 2.


Ex. 5: What SMS will you send, if you want to say 'sorry'?

[Choose the two correct alternatives]

(2) SRY

(3) SOZ

(4) SOY

Sol.: SRY or SOZ can be used for word Sorry
